What is Gwent?
Gwent is a collectible card game (CCG) that is based on the popular video game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is a game of strategy, skill, and luck, where players build decks of cards and battle against each other to be the last one standing.
What is Draft Gwent?
Draft Gwent is a game mode within Gwent that allows players to build their decks from scratch by picking cards from a rotating pool of options. It's a unique and exciting way to play Gwent, as it offers a completely different experience from the traditional Constructed format. Here's how it works:
1. The Draft
- Pick a faction: You'll start by choosing one of the six factions available in Gwent (Northern Realms, Nilfgaard, Monsters, Skellige, Syndicate, and Scoia'tael).
- Draft cards: You will then be presented with three cards to choose from, and you can pick only one. The cards will be from various rarities, and you’ll have the opportunity to draft 25 cards in total.
- Build your deck: After drafting your cards, you’ll need to create a deck of 25 cards. You can choose any combination of cards you want, but you must adhere to the following rule: you can only have up to 3 copies of any card in your deck.
2. The Matches
- Play against others: Once you have built your deck, you'll be matched against other players who have also drafted decks.
- Best of three: Matches in Draft Gwent are played in a best-of-three format, meaning that the first player to win two matches wins the game.
- Rewards: After each match, you will earn rewards based on your performance.
Why Play Draft Gwent?
Draft Gwent offers several advantages over the traditional Constructed format:
- New challenges: Drafting new decks every time gives you the opportunity to experience a wide variety of strategies and cards.
- Lower barrier of entry: It’s a good way to experience the game without having to spend money on collecting rare cards.
- Skill-based: While the draft itself is based on luck, your success in the matches relies on your ability to strategize and play the game well.
- Unique gameplay: The drafting process adds an exciting element to the game, as you'll need to carefully consider each choice you make.
If you're looking for a new and exciting way to play Gwent, Draft Gwent is definitely worth trying out.
